Have all your old media digitised today!
There are several reasons why digitising your media is important.
Firstly, digitising media allows for easy access and preservation of valuable historical and cultural content. Converting printed materials such as books, photos, and film into digital form makes it easier for people to access and interact with these resources, regardless of their physical location. Additionally, digital preservation helps protect these materials from the physical degradation that can occur over time.
Secondly, digitising media allows for easier sharing and distribution of information. Digital content can be easily disseminated across multiple platforms and accessed by large numbers of people simultaneously, leading to greater access to information and knowledge.
Thirdly, digitisation also allows for the efficient organisation and management of media content. Digital assets can be quickly and easily catalogued and searched, making it simpler to organise large collections of content and locate specific items within these collections.
Overall, digitising media has revolutionised how we store, access, and interact with cultural and historical content, leading to greater access to knowledge and a more efficient management of resources.
VHS, camcorder, 8mm and other media tapes are made of magnetic tape that degrades over time. They deteriorate and display signs of a "sticky-shed syndrome". This is caused by absorption of moisture into the binder of the tape, which may render it unusable. The equipment to playback these devices are also quickly going out of production.
